WHAT IF your biggest weakness was also your biggest strength?

Take the assessment and identify and magnify your defining features

Take the Assessment

The AMPLIFI assessment is based on The Freak Factor, written by David Rendall.

As a child and young adult, David was always in trouble because he couldn’t sit still, be quiet, or do what he was told. His parents, teachers, and employers believed that these weaknesses needed to be fixed if he was ever going to be successful

But then something interesting happened. He gradually started getting requests to give presentations, and then he became a professional speaker. It is now his job to stand up (not sit down), to talk (not to be quiet), and to run his own business (not to follow direction from others). He learned that his weaknesses were also strengths and he started to wonder if this was true for others as well

Through years of reading and research, he discovered evidence that everyone has weaknesses that are also strengths. The AMPLIFI assessment is designed to help people identify their. features, the unique connections between their weaknesses and strengths, and to understand how they can capitalize on those features to improve their lives, relationships, careers, and organizations.

What is the AMPLIFI framework?

chart

The AMPLIFI framework is organized into two main phases with four levels for each phase.

Phase One is changing our BELIEFS about ourselves, others, and how to get better.
Phase Two is changing our BEHAVIORS, the ways we try to get better.

The process is sequential. We can’t change our behaviors until we’ve adopted new beliefs. We can’t amplify our features if we don’t appreciate them. Each level of the framework builds on the previous level.

What is AMPD?

AMPD is an acronym based on the Amplifi theme. Amped has three primary meanings:

R

Feeling excited and full of energy

R
Making something larger or more impressive
R

Increasing the level or amount of something sharply

What is a Factor?

A factor is a distinctive attribute. Your factors are your unique characteristics. Factors are similar to what other assessments refer to as types, styles, themes, or characteristics.

The AMPD factors are organized into four color-coded quadrants, which represent a related cluster of features. Each of the factors contains both strengths and weaknesses. No factor is perfect. No factor is better or worse than the others.

What is a Feature?

A feature is a highlight, a prominent characteristic, an outstanding achievement, an advantage, a benefit, or an exceptional proficiency. To feature something is to make it visible or to show it off. The goal of Amplifi is to help you identify and magnify your defining features.

In the Amplifi assessment, a feature is the combination of a specific weakness and its corresponding strength. For example, a Frantic Energizer is BOTH frantic and reckless (weakness) AND energetic and active (strength).

Each of the four AMPD factors includes ten features. There are a total of 40 features and they are arranged in 20 opposite pairs. These opposites were represented by the statements in the assessment, and you chose which statements were truest for you.

For example, Restful Recharger (A) is the opposite of Frantic Energizer (D). They are opposites on the dimension of activity (low vs. high). In other words, a restful recharger cannot also be a frantic energizer.

Similarly, Systematic Organizer (M) is the opposite of Chaotic Creator (P). They are opposites on the dimension of structure (high vs. low). A systematic organizer cannot also be a chaotic creator.

It is likely that your features will be contained in one or two of the factors. However, it is possible to have features in all four AMPD factors. Individual features are opposites, but the factors are not mutually exclusive. They are just overall categories for commonly related features.
